Friday Friday Friday

I may not need to tell you how huge this is. If you live in the Twin Cities, for instance, you've probably heard a lot about the Doomtree release show. But if not ... hell's bells!
This track is from Doomtree's debut record, out yesterday on - what else? - Doomtree Records. They're celebrating its release on Friday:
Friday, August 1
First Avenue, Minneapolis
with I Self Devine & Kill the Vultures
8 pm doors
$10 door/$8 advance
Doomtree is a really good record. It features the collective's members - that's POS, Cecil Otter, Dessa, Lazerbeak, Marshall Larada, Mike Mictlan, Paper Tiger, Sims, Turbo Nemesis - and it's Twin Cities hip-hop at its finest. The above track is my favorite, but there are plenty of other highlights. It's hard to believe that this is the first time they've all collaborated on record, since they often do on stage. Meanwhile, individual members - especially POS, Dessa, and Lazerbeak (guitarist for the Plastic Constellations) - have done pretty well for themselves.
I have a feeling this record is going to be huge, and I sure hope so. With this and the last Brother Ali and Atmosphere albums, Twin Cities hip-hop will hopefully get its national due.
You can buy Doomtree from Doomtree themselves.
