If I give you a yard

Look, there's no denying it: times are tough. We all know why. But am I wrong in thinking that things are starting to look up a little? The economy may be recovering slightly, our new president may be improving our reputation in the universe, spring may finally be here, and Minnesota may eventually have a senator.

One For The Team - Garden.

It is in this spirit that I hear the new EP from Minneapolis' One For The Team. Their record Build It Up was one of 2008's best, and this new EP Build A Garden is just as good. It's a more intimate affair, because it was recorded in a Minneapolis apartment, and it plays like a younger sibling to Build It Up. There's optimism here, but it's a little more cautious, a little more hesitant, a little more restrained. Whereas Build It Up was about release, Build A Garden is more about tension - it's sweet, poppy tension, but tension nonetheless.

You can buy the awesome Build A Garden from the Afternoon Records store. Highly recommended.

I'm not a pessimist but a realist. Yes, you are completely wrong. Check the scorecard and write again. The US is printing trillions and sealing the coffin.

I like this a lot. He is very much in the Sufjan style - hopefully he doesn't get too much grief for that, because he's very talented, and a genuine songwriter. I really like his song "the Discus Incident" as well.
